Windham

Alfred J. Alix of Windham, NH passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025 after a period of declining health. He was 75 years old.

Alfred was the second of thirteen children, born February 20, 1950 to Ernest and Lucette Alix, also of Windham. Alfred attended Windham Center School and Central Catholic High School then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After military service, he received a degree in Electronics Technology from John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA.

Alfred had a wide range of skills and was equally at home working on cars at the family auto repair shop, managing a hotel in Franconia, NH, branding cattle in Central Wyoming, and working R&D at one of several NH high-tech electronics companies.

He loved the outdoors, loved his family, and enjoyed nothing better than relaxing at home with his best friends Mo and Josh. One of his great joys in recent years was reconnecting with lifelong friends over breakfast with the ROMEO club (Real Old Men Eating Out). Those who gathered at Alfred’s side during his final days were particularly blessed by his love, kindness and humor. He will be sorely missed, but he finished well and left us with sweet memories.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 35 years Moira Alix, son Joshua Alix and partner Kayla Gignac, daughter Erin Morrigan and husband Bill Bourdon, daughter Dabney Alix and husband Conrad Slimmer and their children Orin and Una. He is also survived by brothers Ernest, Francis, Albert and Paul Alix; sisters Rosemarie Rinaldo, Anne-Marie Campbell, Theresa Paradis, Mary Dahlberg, Margaret Stuart, Catherine St. Ledger, and Joyce McDonald; 43 nieces and nephews and countless grandnieces and grandnephews.

Alfred was predeceased by parents Ernest and Lucette Alix, brother Joseph Alix, son Benjamin Alix, stepson Jacob Laliberte, and dear friends Ralph Parsons and Dennis Traynor.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate nursing staff at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity dear to Alfred. An informal memorial gathering will be held in Alfred’s honor at a later date
