Mr. John A. Meehan, of Saugus, MA, passed away on July 10, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital at the age of 81 after a brief illness. Mr. Meehan is survived by his wife, Sheryl Meehan.
Born in Somerville, Mr. Meehan was the son of the late John W. Meehan and the late Carmella Meehan (DeAngelo). Mr. Meehan served on the U.S.S. Opportune in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved his time as a Maritime sailor and traveled around the world. Throughout his career, he worked at numerous organizations, which provided him with a diverse skill set, and he enjoyed every challenge he faced. He had a love for his family, friends, and animals.
Mr. Meehan is survived by two children - Colleen A. Meehan and her wife, Colleen, and Darlene Reese-Mannion and her husband, Michael Mannion. Three siblings also survive him. Lorraine Ryan and her husband Patrick, David Meehan and his wife Patricia, and Diane Glasheen and her husband Mike. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cameron and Hayley, Conner and Shannon, and his great-granddaughter Kaylei. Plus, his nieces Laura, Renee, Lindsey, Megan, and Shannon, and their families.
Mr. Meehan was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan, and niece, Christine.
Services and a full military burial will be announced and held at a later date once his daughter, Colleen, recovers and heals from her traumatic injuries due to a car accident.
