Leo Joseph Raymond (79)

It is with great sadness—and a measure of peace—that we announce the passing of Leo Joseph “Butch” Raymond, following a four-and-a-half-year battle with the cruel and relentless disease of dementia. Anyone who knew Leo knew his strong and confident personality. He gave his all to everything he did. From working on the farm as a boy alongside other kids from the Straw Road area of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, to surveying highways for the State of New Hampshire, to traveling nationwide as an industrial printing press installer and mechanic, Leo approached life with determination and pride. Even in retirement, he remained active, working part-time as a delivery driver. Leo was an avid power boater and took great pride in his service with the Army National Guard. 

He deeply valued his relationships with his brother, Scott Raymond (and Pat) of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, and his sister, Shirley Higgins of Warren, New Hampshire. Above all, Leo was especially proud of his family: his daughter, Sandra Daviault (and Steve) of Loudon, New Hampshire; his son, Matthew Raymond (and Mary Ellen) of Delaware; his four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

Leo’s wife and partner of 31 years, Cynthia (Tuttle) Raymond, expresses her sincere appreciation to all who offered support and kindness throughout this journey. Special thanks to family and friends, the Seabrook, New Hampshire Police Department, and the staff at Cornerstone at Hampton and The Inn at Deerfield Memory Care facilities for their care and compassion that Leo would allow.
