Marvin Carmody

August 27, 1934 — January 31, 2026

Mont Vernon

Marvin Carmody of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, a dedicated leader and respected figure in the telecommunications industry, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband of Pamela Ryan Carmody.

Marvin’s life was defined by his professional expertise and a journey that spanned the United States. He began his career at North Platte Telephone in western Nebraska before his talents took him to Las Vegas, Nevada, with USI Telecom and later Centel Telephone Co. His reputation for operational excellence led him to Stromberg Carlson, where he served in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Rochester, New York. A significant chapter of Marvin’s life was spent with ITT, where he served as the Director of Field Operations. During his tenure, he oversaw vital projects in Jackson, Tennessee; Hartford, Connecticut; and Des Plaines, Illinois. Known for his steady hand in times of transition, he managed the closure of the Alexandria, Virginia facility with precision before taking an early retirement from the company.

Ever the professional, Marvin’s “retirement” was short-lived. He served as a consultant in Kent, Washington, and later founded a consulting group in Springfield, Virginia, where he mentored startup companies in securing government grants and developing business plans. After further roles in Cincinnati and Hudson, Marvin and Pamela settled in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, where they made their home for 30 years. He concluded his storied career as the Director of Operations in Providence, Rhode Island, retiring fully after seven years of service.

Beyond his professional achievements, Marvin’s greatest legacy is his family. He was a source of immense pride and inspiration to his three sons, Jim Carmody, Bill Carmody, and Don Carmody. All three followed their father’s path into the telecommunications industry, a testament to the mentorship and example he provided. They remain deeply proud to be his sons.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Alvin Carmody; his brother, Melvin Carmody; and his sisters, Shirley DeAndrea and Sharon Wooden. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; his three sons, Jim, Bill, and Don Carmody; his brother, Robert Carmody; and a cherished legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many colleagues and friends across the country.
