Rhona Lei O'Ben

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Rhona O’Ben of Weare, NH after a heroic battle with cancer. Rhona passed through the gates of heaven into the loving arms of our Lord on November 12, 2025. In her final moments she was surrounded by her family and loving friends.

Rhona was one of 6 children born to Richard and Janice O’Ben in Gardiner, ME. She graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1975, completing her studies in just 3 years. She moved to Laconia, NH in 1977 where she raised her two children Marcus and Amber and then later adopted her son James in 2000.

Rhona had a passion for cooking, putting it to good use serving the community by running her own food truck and cafe for years. She was famous for her holiday pies and as a cake decorator creating beautiful works of edible art.

She was a longtime dedicated member of Weare Bible Baptist church. It was this community, along with family and friends that brought her so much comfort in her final days.

Rhona is survived by her daughter Amber, beloved grandchildren Cristian, Emma and Isabel Torija; and her son James LeBrecht. Her step-mother Joan O’Ben; brother and sister-in-law Allen & Michele O’Ben; sister and brother-in-law Ginny & Steve Drzewiecki; sister and brother-in-law Cindy & CJ LoPrete; brother and sister-in-law Richard Jr & Shelia O’Ben and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rhona has been joyfully reunited with her son Marcus; her father Richard O’Ben Sr; mother Janice O’Ben Pushard and brother George O’Ben.

A celebration of life will be held on November 22, 2025 at 1pm at Weare Bible Baptist, located at 82 N Stark Hwy, Weare NH 03281, with a potluck gathering immediately following. She will be laid to rest at a future date in West Gardiner, ME.
