Richard T. LaRochelle

Richard LaRochelle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 65.Born on July 4, 1961, Richard devoted his life to his family and to the things he loved. He was married to his beloved wife, Cathy “Overka” LaRochelle, for 47 wonderful years. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on through their children and grandchildren.Richard had a long and distinguished career as a tractor-trailer driver, working for Malden Mills and Shaw’s for more than 30 years. During his career, he drove more than 2 million miles and received numerous awards recognizing his commitment to safe driving. His dedication, skill, and careful nature were a reflection of the man he was in every part of his life.Outside of work, Richard had a passion for cars and loved spending time tinkering in his garage. There seemed to be very little he couldn't fix. He was the person family and friends could turn to when something needed repairing, building, or figuring out. Richard was artistic and creative, with a natural ability to see possibilities where others might not. Richard was known for his hand-crafted Halloween decorations among many projects.

He was a loving father and grandfather who never needed a special occasion to make memories. He could often be found lying on the floor with his children or grandchildren, playing, and being silly with them. Those ordinary moments were anything but ordinary to the people who loved him. Among Richard’s favorite memories were the family vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee where days were filled with fishing, cooking and laughter.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cathy “Overka” LaRochelle, and his three children and their families: Sheena Herman and her husband George, and their children, Dezirae, Zakary, and Georgie; Mandy and her husband Jon, and their children, Grace, Anna, and Katy; and Richard and his wife Julianna, and their sons, Jackson and Benjamin. Richard also survived be his mother Martha LaRochelle, sisters Cindy Snyder and Carrie Lafluer and Brother Timothy LaRochelle.
