Richard Poussard died peacefully Friday August 7th at Catholic Medical Center after a long history of heart issues. He was born Sept. 18, 1946 in Salem MA to Elizabeth Marie Bouchard Poussard and Arthur Leo Poussard. Richard attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and St. Joseph’s Academy, both in Salem, MA. He later attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
His pharmaceutical career included several communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as the family pharmacy in Salem MA. He took his responsibility as a pharmacist very seriously and was always concerned and attentive to his clients’ needs. He was an avid remote-control airplane and helicopter pilot and enjoyed decades in the sport with many hobby enthusiast friends. Another love of his was his two dogs who helped brighten some of his medically difficult years. He enjoyed the home gardens and the peace of mind surrounded by 5 acres of natural beauty. His faith was also an important element in his life. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl and daughter, Allison Bolton and her husband, Jeff as well as Cheryl’s daughter, Erin Connolly and her husband Kilian. He loved his shared role of grandfather to Erin and Kilian’s sons, Roan and Andrew Connolly. The warmth of their company and home during holiday times was always anticipated and enjoyed. He loved cooking a batch of popcorn and picking out fun movies for an evening with the grandsons. They were like three boys, lighthearted and headed for a good evening together.
Richard is also survived by brothers, Robert, Henry and Paul. Richard is predeceased by his daughter, Melissa; brothers, Arthur, Bert, Raymond and sister Anne-Marie Danjou.
