Richard Charles Poussard

Richard Poussard died peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Catholic Medical Center after a long history of heart issues. He was born on September 18, 1946, in Salem, Massachusetts, to Elizabeth Marie Bouchard Poussard and Arthur Leo Poussard. Richard attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and St. Joseph’s Academy in Salem, Massachusetts and later attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

Richard’s pharmaceutical career served communities throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including time at the family pharmacy in Salem. He took his responsibilities as a pharmacist seriously and was known for being attentive and genuinely concerned for his clients’ needs. He was also an avid remote-control airplane and helicopter pilot, enjoying decades in the hobby alongside many fellow enthusiasts.

Richard found joy in the companionship of his two dogs, who helped brighten some of his medically difficult years. He also enjoyed his home gardens and the peace of being surrounded by five acres of natural beauty. His faith was an important part of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his daughter, Allison Bolton, and her husband, Jeff; and Cheryl’s daughter, Erin Connolly, and her husband, Kilian. He also cherished his role as grandfather to Erin and Kilian’s sons, Roan and Andrew Connolly. Richard especially enjoyed holiday gatherings and evenings spent making popcorn and choosing fun movies with his grandsons. Those times together were filled with lightheartedness and affection.

Richard is also survived by his brothers, Robert, Henry, and Paul. He was predeceased by his daughter, Melissa; his brothers, Arthur, Bert, and Raymond; and his sister, Anne-Marie Poussard Danjou.
